I love, love, love this piece! It features a large, finely detailed fossilized Ammonite pendant. The exquisite specimen has a beautiful, almost marbled-like surface made up of gray-greens, raw sienna and purple-blues. My favorite feature of this piece is that it has been absolutely buttered with 24k yellow gold. It's finish is raw and has a "frosted" feel to it. The back of the piece is entirely covered in rich, luxurious solid 24k yellow gold.

A little explanation for you...(and me)...
According to Wikipedia, Ammonites are an extinct group of marine animals of the subclass Ammonoidea in the class Cephalopoda, phylum Mollusca. Their name came from their spiral shape as their fossilized shells somewhat resemble tightly-coiled rams' horns.

The collar is a spectacular 22" piece. It is made up of large, step-faceted ovals of sienna-hued and raspberry pink-red Tourmalines. They've been asymmetrically placed within the piece. Rondelles of wine and champagne colored Sapphires, petite briolettes of shaded Tourmaline, Champagne Topaz rondelles and hearts of basket-cut water sapphire Iolites comprise the exquisite clusters in between the cubes of pale honey-yellow Citrines and antique crystal pearls. Gray moonstone and Oregon Sunstones accent.

The antique pearls within the piece also hold a special place in my heart as they are from strands of pearls I received from my Great Grandmother. Many of the strands were broken and I've "upcycled" these beads into this one-of-a-kind piece. The heavier weight, brilliance and luster of the antique pearls is much deeper and rich than any contemporary Chinese glass pearl. The piece closes with a lobster clasp and a simple oval chain. All fine and solid sterling silver parts have been gently oxidized to yield and antique patina that ranged from a deep charcoal umber to a light, golden patina.

The best-selling spy novel bursts onto the screen in this riveting story of adventure and international intrigue. John Forsythe stars as an American CIA agent who hires a French operative (Frederick Stafford) to travel to Cuba and investigate rumors of Russian missiles and Topaz, a NATO spy. The inquiry soon spins into a life-threatening escapade of espionage, betrayal and murder. Starring: John Forsythe, Frederick Stafford, Dany Robin, John Vernon, Karin Dor, Michel Piccoli, Philippe Noiret, Claude Jade, Michel Subor, Per-Axel Arosenius, Roscoe Lee Browne Directed by: Alfred Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock hadn't made a spy thriller since the 1930s, so his 1969 adaptation of Leon Uris's bestseller seemed like a curious choice for the director. But Hitchcock makes Uris's story of the West's investigation into the Soviet Union's dealings with Cuba his own. Frederick Stafford plays a French intelligence agent who works with his American counterpart (John Forsythe) to break up a Soviet spy ring. The film is a bit flat dramatically and visually, and there are sequences that seem to occupy Hitchcock's attention more than others. A minor work all around, with at least two alternative endings shot by Hitchcock. --Tom Keogh
